Motorcraft DEF Pour Spout
Guy's, I'm having a hard time finding the pour spout for Fords DEF. Would you know where I could by one online? The dealers here have the def but not the spout.

Couldn't the Dealer order one for you? I bought 2.5 gal plus the Spout for 19 bucks yesterday from the Ford Truck Dealer, yes truck dealer they don't sell Focus's or Fusions.

I'll have to tell them to order me one.

I ran across that the other day. I couldn't believe that the nozzle didn't come with the def. I caught he service writer was looking for a funnel to pour it in.

I asked if the spout can be re-used and was told yes, just be sure to rinse it out well when through. Since IM a new 2012 owner I have lots of questions to ask at the Ford Truck Service department.

What's so special about the spout? Anybody have a picture of one?

That is correct. But either it should come with the truck or come with the def in my opinion.

It used to come with the DEF, then they decided to start charging for them separately.

The spout is a flexible plastic thing that screws onto a Ford DEF jug. It is the correct length and diameter to fit the filler neck and has an Oring to make a seal when connected. It has an air bleed tube running thru it to release air from the tank as it fills and prevent over-filling which could damage the bladder inside the DEF storage tank assembly.
Get a Ford spout and a jug of Ford DEF. After you use it just rinse it good (jug and spout) and leave them open to dry. When dry set it aside in the garage and you can then reuse the spout if you buy more Ford DEF or you can pour any brand DEF into the Ford jug and use it to fill your tank safely. The spout used to come with every jug of DEF but Ford saw a chance to cut costs and make more money by selling them to us seperately. Now we have to "rinse and repeat"!!! |
