Exclamation What to look for on a used 11 6.7

I may be driving to San Antonio this evening with a buddy for him to buy this truck below. What are some things to look for the the truck? I dont have much experience with the 6.7 and he wants me to go look with him. Any help would be great.

And yes we already noticed it has 08-10 20"s on it.

I think you can have a Ford dealer run an Oasis report for you. That would show you what service the vehicle has had trough Ford channels. I think the price is a decent start, but $40k for a KR with 20k miles would be acceptable assuming its pristine, IMO. That may be my favorite color combo. It's a great looking truck.

Are you sure they aren't factory wheels? For some reason, I remember my brothers 2011 has those. Could be wrong though.

I would be really careful buying an '11. They are plagued with trans, hpfp and turbo issues.

True many have had no problems.

Also true that many many have had a nightmare issue and end up dumping the truck because of the way Ford either can't resolve the problems or won't.

The trans has shifting issues, sometimes major, like when it goes into neutral for a few seconds between gears.

HPFPs fail and Ford has been refusing to warranty them.

Turbos fail, sometimes it takes out the whole engine. Figure months of downtime.

For the meager 15-20% discount you are getting (compared to new) you sure are taking on a lot of risk. I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole for a mere ten grand (my loaded truck was 52 out the door.)

If you are just looking to save some money and get a used truck, go with the 6.4. You'll save even more money and get something that was at the top of it's game when it hit end of life.

Thanks for the advice but this is not a what should he get thread it is a what to look for. He knows the issues, wont be tuning this truck either.

How do you view the engine hours on these trucks? Also can you view the key cycles on the 6.7?

I have an '11 and my only issue I have ever had (and still have) in my 2 years and 3 months of ownership is this and Ford will never fix it.

Other than that, I love this truck!

so i got the Oasis on this truck and it has NEVER been in for any kind or work warranty related or not according to the oasis. What does this mean though. Looks like it needs to be taken in and messed with?
OUTSTANDING FIELD SERVICE ACTIONS

12B33 PCM AND NOX SENSOR MODULE RECALIBRATION

Also the truck was built in July 2011 and not purchased till september 11 so it hasnt even been on the road a whole year yet.
