Noise after shutting down??????

I know it's probably normal and probably in the book somewhere, but what is the noise I hear coming from the back of the truck after I shut her down and hop out? Sounds like a pump or something that runs for a few seconds after the engine is turned off.

I know I should know the answer but I don't, be gentle!!

I started getting a noise like a compressor winding down from the engine compartment. It starts about 5-10 seconds after I turn off the key, and lasts about 30 seconds. It started doing this around 50K miles. The truck still runs fine. I will wait to have it checked at next oil change because the nearest Ford dealer is 90 miles away. Anyone else experience this?

Waste gate control valve part number 9E882. Buzzing noise after shutdown and egr closes. Push on brake and goes away or it slowly fades after about a minute.

Waste gate control valve. Just had mine replaced last week. If the dealer calls the Ford hotline they well tell them to replace it. Ford knows about this problem. The part sits just above the alternator just under the throttle body. (I have duel alts)

Here is a good thread on it with videos and photos.

That is BS. It is the waste gate control valve- they must replace under warranty. Had mine done about a month ago.

I was visiting my friends at my last week dealership and they told me Ford just sent a notice out telling them not to replace it and that it is completely normal!!

For the price of this truck it shouldn't make any noises! Sadly this is what has become of big businesses and their so called warranties. The days of the the customer is always right is GONE (not just in the auto industry) and it is now all about stock price, investors and bottom line!!!!

Wouldn't that just be the turbo unspooling? A good turbo spins for a good 20-30 seconds after the engine is shut Down even longer with Vgt turbos..
