How do you know it's doing a 15minute regen?

I've seen this said in numerous posts and always meant to ask.

"My truck's mileage went to crap while it was doing a 15 minute regen"

Seen this several times. How do you know it's doing a 15 minute regen? I get the 'cleaning exhaust filter' notice, but it lasts like 5 sec max.

Is it really finished that fast? I think not, but the notice goes away.



I'd like to know when it's starting and finishing it's regen.

Is this something that's changed in the software between 11 and 12?

There is no notification that the truck has finished cleaning (regen). The only way to know is to watch your instant fuel milage. When regen starts (message flashes) you will notice a drop of about 2 mpg below what your average has been, and it will stay low for the entire regen process. Once complete, your milage will go back up to the average. It takes on average 10 minutes.
No there is no differance between '11 & '12.

Yep what he said. Mine lasts 8-10 miles doing 65 on the highway. Longer when it decides to burn while navigating through our nations capital.

Your guys mpg only drops 2 mpg? mine always drops in half. From 16-18 on hwy to 8-10 mpg and contant surging in regen.

At 65 mph. 3.55 e-locker 18 camper 4x4 crew short.

Have you had the NOX reprogram? If not I would bring it in. The only time mine has surged is when it had gone into clean mode while on cruise control, flip cruise off then back on and it stops. Surging is not normal.

when did the nox reprogram come out

08 F350 XLT DRW, Spartan 250 tune, 4" open down pipe back, Navi radio, Cold air intake, Dash Daqxl monitor, 2800 watt custom sterio 2-10" subs all new 5x7's, back up camera , hid hi low set up just installed..

I never see a drop in MPG's. I have NO deletes and the drive train is bone stock. I see the message come on for a few seconds. I watch the LED panel set on the instant MPG screen and there is never a big jump? And there is no surge before or after the reprogram and NOX calibration.

Ive had the recall and made no differance only when I got it back from dealer drove and 500 miles to speed reduction pop up. Read on site to add def to full to reset after programing update. I have turned the cruise off and on and few minutes it will surge again. Only 98% time while in regen and after bout 8000 miles. New it never surged. But mpg always droped in half since I bought it new and that always frustrated me. 18 mpg empty on trips is the best ever, ecept once going to southern cal and each regen was down the passes or down 405 to ocean.
