Lifespan of original oil
Just occurred to me that my brand new (2011) F250, 6.7 with a build date of 4/2011 has 16 months on the oil, even though only 520 miles.
Should it be changed? K |

I had alway been taught that oil should be changed at 3 month intervals in low milage vehicles, I don't know about modern (synthetic) oil

conventional oil i belive is 3 months fully synthetic recommends 6 months in most cases but i was told by a ford tech the original oil they use in these truck is synthetic blend which im not sure of the time frame but sure its not more than 6 months i think its time to change ur oil

change for the simple fact it will clean out any 'build' material the oil would pick up. I changed my oil about 500 miles for that reason..

I am going to change mine at 5k since the dealership is picking that one up. Then every 10k after that since I am going synthetic.

Your oil has no idea how old it is. With that low of an odometer reading I will assume that it has sat and not been short-tripped 1/4 mile at a time.
Your oil is fine and you can follow the OLM as it has mileage and time built into its logic. |
