Leer XL cap on a '12 SD

I know some of you will ask why I put such a horrid thing on a pretty truck, but having lived with one for 15yrs I can't be w/o.

So here is it, the Leer XL cap. Side opening windoors is my favorite feature, but I like the keyless locking too.

First time it showed up it didn't even come close to fitting, I could slip my thumb between it and the truck.
Also came with badly scratched glass in the front window.

Second one, they didn't paint right and it's all wavy.
Got that scratched glass back.

Dealer was getting pissed with Leer for the problems and gave me a huge discount to go get it repainted myself. So that'll be next week's project.

Overall quality of this top compared to the Leer I got 20 yrs ago.
Not so great I have to say and their QC dept could use a biotch slapping.
Fit to the truck: C
Paint quality: A (not the right color, but no trash in it, looks to be a quality paint job, too bad they didn't get the color right.)
Lines straight, not wavy
Hardware lining up with lines: D
Overall looks: B+

ARE is supposed to be releasing a new 'x' series top that has all the features I want, but they keep pushing the date out by a quarter every time I called, finally gave up and ordered the Leer which I might add is $500 more expensive.

Here it is in all it's glory.

Judging by the picture, the fit looks pretty good to me. I'd love a topper but I usually have something too tall for a topper in the bed. For now, I'll just keep on using my Roll n Lock that freezes up every winter making it difficult to open when the temperature drops below freezing.

Yea, wish it was next year when ARE has the new one out, the Leer quality and fit just isn't great. But it'll work.
