what is the difference between the 2011 and 2012 turbo

getting mine replaced. I had the turbo surge at 1100 rpms. The tech submitted the complaint and it came back with a tsb stating to replace the turbo. Turbo was ordered witht eh number FMC sent and tech started replacing it today. He said that he can't visually tell a difference by looking at it and inside it. So I am hoping I got the newer turbo and would like to know the difference

From what I understand all the replacement turbos are the "newer" turbos, all FMC did was upgrade the bearings to withstand the variable geometry and the turbo doesnt boost as early in 6th gear

What month/year did the 'new' turbos starting coming in trucks from the factory?

new turbo is in and tech said that it seems to have a bit more boost.

Not mine. Still hard to get 20psi out of it.

My 2012 built in April will boost beyond 20 stock.

Just had my turbo replaced under TSB 11-12-14 (turbo flutter). The invoice says BC3Z*6K682*EA Turobchanger ASY. Glad it was under warranty. The thing is around 2K.
