Oil life indication?

The manual says oil life is dependent on how the vehicle is used. So I went to the on-board display for oil life expecting it to tell me something like 70% remaining or something like that. Instead it says "OK". If I'm getting "close" I'd rather have it done before I leave on a trip than to try to find someone to do it "on the road". Am I missing something? How do I get it to tell me the oil life status?

It's a 2012 Lariat.

I have read in many forums and manuals and the oh so lovely google, on how to reset the oil life, I have the 3 button system on my 2010 F250 and when i cycle through the system setup bit, it goes to engine hours and cycles through a very slim number of items, none of which say anything about oil and its life - am i missing something, or is there a chance that there is a programming chip to disable that notifier and previous owner did that, or am i really as stupid as i look.

Also, when I turn the key on, right about the time i go to actually crank the truck, an oil can kinda flashes on the information center....ids that normal or is it telling me that i need to give something a lil TLC
Can't speak for the 2010 with the 6.4L engine. But on the 2011 with the 6.7L It's in your command center

As far as the quick blink Oil Can on the screen. As the system does it system check, It's flashing that you have no oil pressure. Which is normal, since you have not started the engine at that point. As soon as the engine starts youy have oil pressure and the oil can goes away. So totally normal

As stated, it will tell you with approximately 500 miles left till "change oil required" appears. On my Explorer, I get it at the 5% left mark which we are close to 10,000 mile changes so that matches up with the 500 mile +/-.

Obviously cycles and driving habits can vary between people but figure the warning comes up at the 5% left mark.
