Drained fuel/water separator

I drained my water separator this morning into a jar, and now im letting it sit to see if any water is present.

My question is how long should i let the fuel in the jar settle for? Any advice appreciated.

I also pulled a sample of red dyed fuel out of our storage tank to see how much contamination, or water is present in it. (If clean i may run some red fuel in my 6.7).

If the sample is inside where it is warm I would say check it after supper tonight. If it is outside and cold, better wait until tomorrow morning.

The most important thing is to make sure it does not get moved around. You know, someone picks it up to see WTF.

Also, next time, after you collect the sample sit it on something to tilt the jar slightly. This will cause any water to settle right in the bottom of a narrower place and be easier to see.

Bet you won't find anything. The filters work pretty good.
