Fuel filter

My info view centre is telling me to replace the fuel filter. I changed it about 12000 miles ago without a reminder coming up. Does anyone know if the display is based on anything other than miles since last reset or is it actually measuring flow restriction through the filter? It actually came up with the change oil soon display so I am suspecting the recommendation is to change fuel filters every third oil change?

I doubt it but I can't remember. The truck has about 22000 miles on now and I didn't record the mileage of the fuel filter change - so the 12000 miles is a guess.

Mine came on at 20K, I called FORD and they said it was programed to come on at 15K. Funny thing is when I changed them, a quite noticeable sound (moan, or humm) disappeared. I reset. I'm guessing it should alert me again at 35-40K, I will be listening for the moan as much as watching the screen.
