Watta truck

Just got back from Death Valley. Round trip @ 900 miles. Had my 1600 BMW GTL in the bed with 2 ramps (45 lbs apiece) 2 Honda generators (50lbs apiece), towing my 25 ft Airstream ( 6500 lbs loaded), and assorted extras in the cab along with my buddy. My truck is a Lariat Powerstroke LB Crew cab.

Able to maintain an easy 65 mph over all the passes with little downshifting in tow/haul mode. I was astounded at the effortless ability to accelerate when needed and the hill decent control. Got 11.9 mpg overall and as much as 12.5 on level ground. I knew the truck was fantastic, but this was the greatest load I've pulled or carried since I bought her last Aug. I am really impressed as was my passenger. In addition, the comfort afforded by all the amenities, was as impressive!

NICE! Glad you're enjoying it!
What is your truck(style/axle ratio/tires), and what mileage empty (hand calculated) without a load/towing?

Awesome combo - Powerstroke, K16 and an Airstreem! Sweet. I have the PS, an R12RT but the RV is still on the wish list. How do you like the GTL?

I love mine too. Great truck. Hear you on the trans, works great.

Mine seems to get about 16mpg no matter what I do.

Watta truck

My baby is a crew cab, long bed, with a 3.55 Axel ratio. Normal 65-70 cruise nets 20-21 mpg without towing or bed load. Have seen 13 mpg towing the AS empty. My gas '08 Tundra was lucky to see 17 mpg empty and no tow. Best tow mpg was 10.5 mpg. As to the 1600 GTL: the Starship Enterprize. As good a truck as our Powerstroke is in it's environment, the K1600GLL is better. For you guys as non motorcyclists, the BMW above is a luxo-touring bike weighing 7,500 lbs with 150 hp, and 130 lb-ft of torque. Freeking awesome!!! I've had only 3 trucks, but have had 67 motorcycles in my 68 years. Reason I purchased the Powerstroke was to be able to haul 1 of my 5 bikes and pull my trailer. Well, mission accomplished!

AWESOME! F350 CCLB w/3.55 and 20s is what I plan to order. Glad to know there is some good mileage potential!
