EGR Delete Kit???
Wanted to see if someone could shed some light on what a EGR delete Kit is. I am fixing to purchase a 2011 F250 and trying to do some research before I add anything to the truck. I havent had a diesel since 2006 and seems things have changed a little since then.
So why would you want or not want the EGR system? and Im guessing this will flip out the techs when ou go in for warranty work? Thanks in advance. |

I think the 6.7 motor is warranty for 100,000 mi. right? |

5 year, 60,000 miles miles for the powertrain. That's of course unless you've purchased the extended warranty.

I believe ups 6.0 is right with the 100,000 mile warranty on the engine. 60,000 on the drivetrain, 36,000 bumper to bumper. If you got rid of the EGR, you'd be getting rid of your all your warranties at the same time. But getting rid of EGR alone will do little to help, you'd want to go with full deletes, DPF DEF CAT SCR and EGR.

When I saw your original post you had me second guessing myself. Actually went to my truck and looked. Glad you found it.

Thanks for the responses so far.
I guess my question was more along the lines of: Along with a programmer What is the point of the delete kit? More HP? If its not for HP then why void the warranty and remove it? |

I'm not as concerned about the EGR as I am the DPF and DOC. |

Thanks.
Forgive the the stupid question, What is DPF and DOC? |

DPF is Diesel Particulate Filter
DOC is Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (catalytic converter for diesel) The DPF is like a honeycomb that traps all the soot. Once it gets "full" the system injects raw diesel into the combustion chamber on the exhaust stroke which gets shot downstream into the DPF and starts burning off the soot under extreme heat. |
