Did Your Dad Actually paint the Chrome Piece or did he buy the Primered piece and have it painted?

I've heard a lot of the guys buy the primered piece ....

They have to know what they are doing to prep the Chrome piece, and it still might not hold good up against rock chips....

He bought the primer one and had that painted cause he heard sometimes even after you prep the chrome it won't hold too well, and my brother and I did his headlights. We did the 6.4 headlights first to know what we were getting into before tearing into his 2 day old truck lol

My paint shop told me that they do it and actually peel the chrome off then prep and paint it.
