Great Truck, but stumped by three things...
just picked up an '11 250 XLT. i am coming off a duramax truck w 200K on it, and have bought gm products for 20+ years. with ford's new engine i thought it was time to try a ford. i love this thing so far, but wonder if anyone has any experience with the following:
1) this stupid key in ignition chime - how the heck can that be disabled?! its driving me up a wall. you can disable the seat belt reminder, but not the key chime??- 2) the oil plug. i pulled into valvoline today to get the oil changed (first change - 5K miles) and they not only didnt have the oil filter, they were afraid to take the drain plug out. said it was plastic and they were afraid to strip it. and whats with 5W 40, i have always run 15 -40 in my diesels? 3) K and N filter - do they just not make one yet? i cant find one anywhere and i have always had them in my trucks. any tips are appreciated. this is a great truck so far, looking forward to being part of the forum.... jim |

Congratulations on your truck..
Key Chime??? I think I must have toned mine out.. Oil Plug, twists, pulls out, the oil shoots straight back anointing everything in it's path!!! I'd take it to a Ford Dealer as they have the filters...(when home, my local lube spot has em, on the road, I let Ford. K&N... somebody here will chime (sorry) in... |

Can we add the blinker lever? I test drove one and it wouldnt stay on because it doesn't click into place...anyone else think its annoying?

Fords website shows 5 different viscocity oils,It also says 10w30 perferred and 10w30 is marked on filler cap along with 5w40 severe
Stay away from the 10w30. I have no idea why they suggest this viscocity when there supplemental guide says 10 minutes of idle is severe duty,stop and go severe duty. IMO the 15w40 will be fine,but I'm using 5w40.The oil plug needs to turn counter clockwise ONLY 120 degrees,then it pops out ![]() Can only feel your pain with the key

Its not suppose to click into place. Push it all the way down or up for constant signal or lightly push up or down for 3 signal blinks for changing lanes

K&N doesnt make a filter yet but AFE does. i just dropped one in till I figure out if Banks or S&B is the intake i want.
