Will Ford hang on to second place?

Dodge is up fior the challenge. Anyone wanting to place their bets before the test is done.

Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't understand the title of your thread?

The new ram has increased it' torque to 800 foot lbs to be competitive with Ford and GM so Pick up trucks.com is planning another rematch for next month. I changed the title.

Am I the only person that read the last diesel power issue. The ford actually outperformed the gm with a trailer in tow on accelaration, dino numbers and a few more. They called it a tie with gm. This was the first comparison with the job 2 truck. I know dodge has there new output engine so let's see. But if the test is at high altitude I look for ford to struggle.

Just picked up my new 800 H.O. this Monday and can tell you the difference is like night and day. This 800 is Stout! Are you sure this test is supposed to happen next month?

My bets are:
  1. The HO Cummins will get even worse mileage than the 350/650 Cummins did in the 2010 HD shootout.
  2. The MC DRW still has a whopping 10,500# GVWR.
  3. Just like every other 94+ Dodge/Cummins we have had the whole front end is going to be shot by 100,000km.

We like to call the 2010 Dodge HD "updates" the "lipstick on a pig" model as all it did was put a pretty new body and interior on the same tired chassis.

The only place there was a tie was on the fuel consumption, on every other test the clear winner was the D'Max...

(King Of The Hill: Silverado vs. Super Duty - Chevy Exhaust Braking - Diesel Power Magazine)

I think Ford will upgrade it's exhaust brake, and maybe tweak the turbo, other than that, the quality and longevity of the Ford is a deciding factor.

The Dodge, with it's late 400/800 entry will be interesting as it is running the old school dpf (I believe). The better the competition, the better truck they will produce... so in the end, it's the buyer that is the winner...
