Intake for 6.7 and Bad Turbo???
Hello all,
I have a 2011 6.7 and was wondering which is the best aftermarket cold air intake for it?? Which ones are out and how are they?? Also I have been hearing that the stock turbo on the 6.7 is no good and that it will not make lot of aftermarket power?? Anyone have any comment on this??

Not sure where you heard the stock turbo was "no good". Seems fine to me, lots of power, easy tow with both a 4 horse trailer and a 27' camper trailer. I would research carefully to make sure you are going to get your moneys worth with aftermarket gear.

X2. How much does an engine for that truck cost? Be a shame to void a warranty so soon. I can't imagine the R&R on a scorpion being less than 15-20k.

It looks like to me that for tuning that was released ~9 months after the truck was available to the public (in a truck with a encrypted ECM no less) that some parts of the aftermarket have a handle on it:

...aftermarket power can mean a lot of different things. Injectors, turbo, [B]exhaust right out the friggen hood[/B
Keep us up to date on what breaks first!!! That is always the fun in 'pumpin er up... |

[/Here we go again -AFE stage II or the S&B are the best intakes. The stock turbo is just fine up to a certain HP. Then it runs out of air . And those of you who are so paranoid about voiding your little warrantee , an intake won't do that. And most cases neither will a tune. This is why you go with a respected company like H&S and KEM who have done tonnes of research and testing. I trust them so I don't worry. If you don't , then leave your truck at 400hp. I love having my 25.5K/lb , 42 foot triple axle toy hauler or my 44 foot gooseneck flat deck with 20 + round bails on and cruising in 6th at 70-80 mph like its nothing. Power is good!! The 6.7 has hardcore safety nets built in place to protect itself, from the dual cooling systems to the oil system ( piston cooling), 6 bolts per cylinder etc. in time we will see it pump out big numbers, bigger than I'm seeing now Richc22a ------ new spark plug huh. Yep those will help for sure Last edited by matty21; 03-07-2012 at 03:26 AM. |
