6.7 or 6.2 ??
Yeah I know it's a diesel forum but I was hoping I'd get some real-world mileage numbers for the 6.2 and 6.7 if anyone has experience with them. I use my truck for logging supervision in the Rocky mtns driving about 27K, 28K miles per year and we tow our fairly light (8000lb) trailer almost every weekend over & down some ridiculous pass. 1/2 ton is not an option as my employer has a requirement to run at least a 3/4 ton. Fuel prices average out to be the same in this area so that's a wash.
Current truck is an '06 6.0 and aside from a FICM and EGR valve problem has been awesome, especially when I consider where this thing has spent it's life. I like diesels but I keep hearing the 6.2 is approaching diesel mileage, is this true? ---------------- 2006 F-350 CC XLT SB 6.0 PSD STOCK |

I haven't had a 6.2 in a superduty but the one in my Raptor got about 11.5 city 15 hwy. Can't imagine the superduty would do any better.

one of my dads employees/co-worker has a superduty with the 6.2, he tows equipment trailers, toy haulers and one of those camper/car-trailer things. his mpg suck and after seeing my dads 6.4, wishes he got a diesel. basically like zsommer said, it's not better than the raptors mpg, he's closer to single digits, and the salesman that sold my dad his 6.4 said they cant get rid of the 6.2gassers because they're such guzzlers and quoted him a real world 10mpg best

i have a 6.2L F250 for a work truck. i have had it for roughly 2 months now and have not seen north of 13 miles per gallon and have yet to really work it, just been used to get back and forth to different sites. Other than fuel mileage, this truck is a beast. the old 5.4 does not compare to the 6.2L.

I have the 6.2 with 4.30. I get about 15 to 16 mpg. That's from when I start it till I turn it off. Going to and from work 15 miles each way. I got 13.6 mpg with 08 6.4. I got it to tow 5th wheel that weighs 12 k. I have towed it once so far up north and got 8 mpg. That same trip I got 9 mpg with the 6.4. I have 2 k miles on this truck.

old thread but I figured I'd throw this out there-
I traded my '07 6.0 in July (I loved that truck) for a 2011 6.2 F350 Lariat gasser. "Diesel is more expensive, motor is an expensive option, blah blah blah...". I drove it for 2 months and hated it. 12-13 mpg around town unloaded and very easy on the throttle. The tranny seemed to constantly hunt for the 'optimum' gear. Biggest thing was that the front end is sprung the same for both the gas and diesels - the lighter front on the gas seemed to chatter over every little bump in the road and had a real skittish ride. Long story short - I traded it in less than 60 days later for the 6.7 and have been smiling ever since. Some thing are worth the money. Good thing, too, as the wife says that I won't be visiting the dealer lot for a LOOONG time... |
