Help by calling Ford about the 2.5" hitch

I have been told by Ford that they have no idea that most if not all 2.5" ball mounts don't fit the hitch that they put on the new 2011 SD's. They said that if they get more calls on it they will get there engineers to look at it. Its nice to have a class V hitch that we have to use the 2" sleeve on or grind on the new ball mount to get it to fit. I was out once and did not have my ball mount, so off to the store to get one. I did not have my new F250 thank god and was up a running in no time. Had this been the 2011 F250 we all know that this story would be different.

Please give them a call. I once had a F150 SC that had the tow package on it turn out that they put the smaller radiator in it. Ford put in the larger two row and we found out on the F150 forum that there were a lot of these smaller radiators put on the tow packages. Ford sent out letters giving $150 or replacing the radiators.

Lets get Ford to fix this problem.

With multiple Ford trucks with a 2.5" factory hitch and multiple 2.5" drawbars I have yet to find a combination that does not fit.

Strange I have read about so many on the net that have the same problem. Some sites that sell ball mount say wont fit Ford Super Duty.

I bought a 2.5 to 2 inch adapter for mine. It was very tight. It took a little WD-40 and a mallet to get it in. I think an adapter is available through Ford at one point I had wondered if it would be a better fit. I just hope I don't have to get the adapter out Ha!

I bought a brand new Reese/Hidden Hitch 2.5" ball mount. It would not fit. I bought a reducer insert. That wouldn't fit.

We went down the lot and 1 out of the 9 trucks they had on the lot had a
2.5" hitch that my ball mount would fit.

They swapped hitches from that new truck to my truck. Luckily they unbolt- no rivets.

The issue is the welding of the support wrap on the hitch by Reese. It is warping the insert right at the opening. Oh, don't let em fool ya. They know about it. My dealer said guys were grinding off all the powdercoat off their ball mounts to make them work.

My bet is Reese quietly fixed it and the newer recipients are getting hitches that work now.
