How to tell if truck has the 400/800 reflash
I picked up my truck on 1/14/11 not knowing if it had the reflash or not for the higher horsepower. Is there a way to tell? It is a Job 2 (monotone interior) if that helps any.

If its a job2 is sure should.
I think another way to tell is....... If you display the gear counter on the LCD, it should continue to display the gear counter after shutting the truck off and back on. This is the new flash. If your displaying the gear counter, then shut off the truck and fire it backup and no gear counter is present... I think that is the old flash. Im sure one of the guru's can confirm. |

Forgive me for being ignorant...but I'm not sure what you mean by gear counter. Are you talking odometer?

I probably didnt explain it well.
Hopefully you have this in between your speedo and tach. This is the LCD screen I am refering to. ![]() See how it lists the gears on the right side. This only displays when you hit the - or maybe the + on your gear shift. Hit the - again it it will lock out 6th gear... hit it again and it will lock out 5th... if you hit the plus it will enable 5th gear and hit it again to enable 6th. Handy when you dont want those taller gears for towing. So back to the moral of the story......If the gear selector keeps displaying the gears on the right side of the screen after restarting your truck you should have the 400/800 flash. If your in doubt.. take it to the dealer and have them plug it in and check. |

Ah gotcha now. I have only played with that once and forgotten about it since. Appreciate the explanation. Now I know what to check

Even with shifter in D, it should tell you witch gear you are in |

It is kind of hard for me to tell. I put it in D and played with the selector a bit. Numbers disappeared when I put it back in P, but they came back when I turned it back on and put it in D.
Honestly I never noticed if they were there the whole time before or not. I'm thinking not because I would probably have seen it. |

It's kind of cool to have it there. On many occassions, I've kept my foot out of it to avoid the downshifting/hit to mpg.
