It is an electronic timer by both miles and days. Do not ignore it - check coolant for the need to refresh, then reset. This is not a minus 65 versus minus 30 degree mixture check but rather ph due to contamination.

Is this the same additive the 7.3 needed? I remember having to add to an additive and check the pH every so often.

no it's not the same VC-8 as the 7.3/6.0 require and the coolant doesn't use the same test strips either. 6.7 takes a specialty orange coolant revitalizer VC-12

I went to the dealership today to order the 3-way HD Coolant Test Kit ST3106-A since nobody stocks this crap!

Also, the additive you need is the Motorcraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant Spec #WSS-M97B44-D (Motorcraft Spec Number).

In addition, I have attached the detailed instructions on how to test and what to test for along with what the results mean.

I hope this helps everyone it sure helps me!

If you reference the previous posts I believe the computer defaults at a certain number of miles or engine hours. My truck started doing if at 12,000 miles. Also, it does not mean that the coolant needs additive only checked.

I am not sure what the dealer charges. The dealership I went did not have anything and told me it would be April before Motorcraft could send them the coolant additive.

I just ordered the test strips (bottle of 70 for $40.00) which is the smallest I could get. As for the coolant additive I can't find it anywhere. If anyone can track it down let me know.
