Factory Nav, Visteon or Aftermarket?
So I think I've found the 2011 F250 Lariat I want to purchase. It has everything I want, except for Nav... All of the other trucks with nav have a lot of options I'd rather not pay for.
The dealer gave me a few options: 1. Factory nav installed. A little over $3k. 2. Visteon unit - supposed to integrate with everything from Ford including Sync, bluetooth, etc. - $2100 3. Pioneer installed by dealer - Won't work with sync & requires own bluetooth mic. $2300 Or I could just get something installed on my own for probably $1400 after my 6 month Sirius trial expires. Thoughts? |

I'd probably go with #2. Because I already have a GPS, and Ford Sync is pretty awesome...

The Visteon unit will also include nav. Just seems like a lot of money for a non-brand name unit that is also not the factory unit.....

Totally understand. From the factory the nav is only $1875 extra, but still a chunk of change. I had a touchscreen unit in my '09 Ram 1500 and it was nice to have - so pretty....

$1875...you're really getting ripped off, I can buy almost double the aftermarket stuff than you

$1875 is the price on the sticker if you get nav on your truck. I opted for a truck without nav. If you want an aftermarket unit to work with the existing mic, backup camera, steering wheels controls, and nav antenna then it requires quite a few adapters.... You won't get out much cheaper with a similar unit/functionality.

I decided not to go with the Nav on perpose, in my opinion I don't think that the Nav screens with hold their value very well. So I purcahsed a Garmin 665 with XM and Nav Weather through XM. Atleast I can take my garmin from my truck to my bike to my car. $999 Retail, $699 with Harley Dealer Discounts and $100 Garmin Mail in Rebate.
