Def range 798 miles

So my truck has 2524 miles on it. I have 3.31 gears... Shouldn't this **** last 7000-10000 miles? Oh I have yet to tow anything.

Maybe the dealer never filled it? I'm running B20 for the last four tank fills and it's should reduce urea consumption.

89 engine hours 24 idle.

I received the same message, with 1290 miles on the odometer. I had to take it in for the BCM recall inspection (which was fine) and told them I thought it was not filled upon delivery. The service manager agreed and they filled it up and are going to charge it back to Ford. ($73.82 total!)

I have 331 gears and 5400 miles, no DEF yet. The dealer must have not filled or something is wrong with system. My dealer is going to fill DEF first time free .

From what i understand, the factory isnt filling the DEF all the way. A friend of mine who is a Ford diesel tech, says he has seen these trucks run on one full tank of DEF anywhere from 3000 to 14000 miles. I do not know what the driving conditions were on those trucks. Im sure driving style has to be a factor. take it for what its worth, and when Ford fills your DEF tank, make sure to ask for the spout, so you can keep it at home. He says there is something about the ford designed spout that keep the tank from over filling and spilling out.

I had about 3200 miles when i saw the DEF was half full. Now sitting at 7200 miles. I've got the "change oil soon" or whatever the message is, but nothing on DEF.

How long have you had your truck? Im at 1100 miles or close to that and was wondering what everyones mileage is looking like? Im at about 15 in town, and 17 freeway. Definately not seeing the rumored "20 + MPG". not that i expected it to be honest. its an 8000Lb truck .

The service manager at my dealership said that they are supposed to fill it upon sale of the vehicle, when prepped for the new owner. She said that thy only put a couple of gallons in at the factory because of the limited shelf life and uncertainties on how quick the vehicle would sell. This sounds reasonable to me and either way, the filled it up for free. I have been getting about 16.5 city and 19.6 highway both hand calculated with 1300 mikes on truck.

Spunky that sounds about right. The dealer I bought my truck from had only been open for three weeks. As a new dealer I'm sure they over looked it.

Rob I received my truck Jan 1st. I got 20.5 MPG on my 2 hour drive home from the dealer. Since then I ave about 16.4. City driving kills the mileage. In the city I see about 14.1-15.1. By the way I drive a 250 cc sb 4x4 w3.31 gears.

So I guess I will be calling the dealer on Monday to get that shot filled up. Good tip on keeping the spout.
Thanks
