Question Ford vs. Chevy-Feb. '11 DP

Has anybody else read the Ford vs. Chevy article in the latest Diesel Power magazine? Pretty disappointing. According to real world competition the 2011 Chevrolet Duramax is still a better towing performer than the 2011 Superduty.

Thoughts?

I read the article at Pickuptrucks.com prior to buying my first Ford. The GM may be a better performer and it has the test of time behind its powertrain but I still just wanted to try something different. I don't believe the exhaust brake test means a whole lot as I suspect the Chevy would have shifted into second - the Ford would have been in third. If the hill had required driving down at 40 mph I believe the Ford would have the advantage. Some people say the cruise needs to be set for effective exhaust braking on the Ford. As far as going up the hill goes 400 hp is 400 hp. I believe the Ford was not putting out 400 ponies due to the high elevation - thin air at 9000 ft - Ford's turbo maybe couldn't keep up?

rigged.

AKA the gm was a "hot", "factory" truck. Ford was probably off a dealer lot.

exactly. even DP said the GM was a "hotter" truck than the norm in the last contest between the two.

I own a 08 Chevy, I know the motors are different now but it still has the same crappy interior, and let me tell you its a f***** rattle box with only 76,000 miles on it and most are all interstate. Sometimes when I get in it i want to drive it into a tree. I wouldn't take a new Chevy or GM if you gave one to me. Well maybe i would to trade it in on a new Ford. As for performance well like you said I don't think the allison is so great, it won't hold much power over stock. Just my 2 cents.
