Checked for SMOG Equipment Removal

Has anyone been stopped by law enforcement for any signs of tampering or removal of their DPF and other smog equipment? I know there are some pretty hefty fines being waived if caught. Just wondering if this is actually happening to anyone?

Granted I live in Kalifornia, but I have had our fleet trucks stopped by CHP (Ca. Highway Patrol) and checked for Smog equipment more than once. We have to place our Tier 1/2/3 certification stickers on the fenders as well.

I think that's where the effort has been focused and not on the consumer level but like you stated, I'm sure its just time. Plus its BIG revenue for the state or agency that tags you. I want to say its $25,000 when you get popped.

Yet another reason why extra power from the factory (that warranted mind you) is a good thing!

I believe that the fine is $10,000 but it may be more for commercial vehicles. Plus, I suppose that they could impound your truck as well but who knows?

The fear of that $10,000 ticket is what motivated me to get rid of my '08. Granted I probably could have paid for two tickets on the old truck to equal the cost of the new one, but at least this way I get something out of the deal.
