2011 F450 thoughts?
As a couple of you know I am going ahead with selling my truck and buying a 2011 F450. I want peoples thoughts on the truck that have it as well any pictures people have taken.
What do you like and dislike. Mods that I know I will do is adding the 120 gal fuel tank from my truck to this on, I will be adding Alcoa big rig wheels and a headache rack and probably an Iron Bull which bumper. Thats about it. |

Ryan,
When I was researching getting my truck I was comparing the f-450 and f-350. According to what I found the difference between the job 2 f-350 and an f450 (thinking job1) was the GVWR on the f450 was actually less by about 270 pounds (f-450 gvwr 13030) and a job2 f350 gvwr 13300. I think the f450 still has the mono beam???? front suspension so It will turn tighter but some think that the job2 f-350 went this route as well. The f450 has the 4.30 gears instead of the 3.73's so its towing capacity is up at 24400 instead of the f-350's 21300. Those are 5th wheel towing weights. As far as I found the axles are the same. So no more heavier axles on the 2011's f-450. You could have problems getting insurance for an f-450 as some companies want to write you under a commercial plan... thats gobs more than a regular private non-commercial plan. I could also only find one f-450 near me and it was white. While the in-stock f-350's were more plentiful, in different colors, well loaded, as well as invoice minus rebate pricing. So for me and my needs... it was a no brainer to go with the f-350 Hope my input helps, Later, Ren |

Thanks for the info. I will have to look into the axles and everything. What would be the point of having an F350 and an F450 it it is mostly all the same gear under it.

You took the words right out of my mouth. From what I gather...they are pretty much the same truck, just different gears.

Well you guys just killed all my fun... I though I found the truck I wanted to trade mine in on.
![]() I am going to see what the difference on insurance is between the 350 and 450 then decide. |

That is a nice looking truck. Looks like a Commercial F450 though instead of a non commercial which as I understand it is very hard on insurance.
