Well today, I spent the morning at the Local Ford Dealer. I was looking at the 2011 F350 XLT white with all the bells and whistles. It is a beautiful truck. $53,000 was the price. Did not sign the papers just yet. I need to make a decision on what I want to do. I either trade in both my Dodge trucks, or take them to CarMax and sell it to them. Yes I want to get rid of my POS 6.7l Dodge Mega Cab. This thing has given me more problems than ever. First major repair was $13,000, warranty covered it, and 3 weeks without a truck. I have taken it 3 more times to have the Turbo either cleaned or replaced. Took it in at 26,000 miles. Have taken it 3 more times. Now have 31,000 miles on it and do not want to deal with it anymore. My other truck is a 2008 Dodge work truck. Not getting much use out of that one at all. Just sits in my workshop all day wasting my money. I have been reading everything that people are saying about the Ford. I know that I am making a good choice. If you go to the Dodge Diesel Forums, you will read nothing but complaints about the 6.7 and what needs to be done to the Emissions to get the truck running right. I live in Las Vegas and can not do all of those deletes that they mention. We need to smog the trucks every year and really do not want to remove the DPR, and all the EGR Crap and reinstall it every year. So Ford hear I come. The new 2011 truck is one bad A@# truck in my opinion.
I too, live in Vegas. Your right on those 6.7 Cummins. Too bad you dont live in Nye County, then you could do the deletes and have a problem free truck. I would see what Carmax will give you, then check with the dealer. I took my old truck to Carmax and the dealer gave me $1600.00 over on what Carmax offered. Not sure what dealer you were at, but I've had great experiences at both Ford Country and Team Ford. My last truck I bought was from Team Ford and it was my best new car buy experience so far. Good luck!
Carmax does the buy option based on wholesale value, not trade in. There offer will certainly be low. Your best bet is to print off KBB, edmunds, and NADA trade in value. Use those as a base line, go to Carmax to get your wholesale value. Then I always look around town to see what a similary equipped Truck is selling for on used car lots. With all that ammo, I go into the dealership knowing how much my trade is worth, what I am willing to take and what low ball number I expect them to hit me with.
New car dealerships make their money on your trade, low balling you. Easy way to make a quick grand or more on a deal.
You will love the new Ford, good luck shopping
