Factory 5th/Gooseneck option?
Am I understanding this option correctly, that with the correct hitches, I can use the Reese Elite 5th wheel hitch and/or the Elite goosneck hitch? The factory prep will allow me to use either one at my whim?

Skip the option and get a B&W turnover ball.

How does this allow use of a 5th wheel

They make a fifth wheel attachment, and the hitch is basically a vertical reciever hitch. here is a link, B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc.

Had a B&W and Companion, but I don't know if I want another one. Some of the trucks I've found already have the factory 5th/GN prep so I figure, if it is there, I might as well use it.....

It is my understanding that now Ford is offering the 5th/Gooseneck Prep Package on short bed crew cabs. I saw something about job 2 details and I can also select the option on Ford's "build it" website, whereas several months ago I couldn't select the option.
My concern is, if it is available on the short bed, Ford's website has a blurb that says the 7-pin connector that is installed on the side of the bed is only available on the long bed. Any short bed owners with Ford's 5th/Gooseneck Prep Package care to chime in? Is the connector pre-installed with the short bed just like it is with the long bed? My apologies for being off the original topic, but as my question relates to this thread title, I figured I would post here instead of creating another thread. |

Here you go. I put mine in though. If you buy the reese 18k hitch, it comes with the plug in case you need it.
