Already got my first surprise after ordering.

Turns out in the great corrupt state of New Jersey my new truck will have to be insured commercial.

Anything over 10,000 GVW or more than 4 wheels. That means I lose my 2 car discount and have to pay more. Initial estimate is 1700+ year up from about 1300 for my 06 GMC 2500HD.

My agent said there is nothing they can do about. What a surprise all the people who order SRW's are going to have with the new 11,000 GVW

How much longer do you have to wait to move? That's the nice part about NJ being relatively small... unless you live right in the middle, you could pretty much move out of state and commute...

7 years and my job is covered by state laws that require me to live in state.
And I do live about in the middle, on the coast.

i live in oldbridge nj and has a 2011 f350 srw and pay 1200 a year with gieco, i i had went with a 450 then yess commercial is needed

I have an idea... how about we take everyone out of California and New Jersey, and leave the bureaucrats behind that make these decisions. Then they can tax themselves to death and come up with all sorts of stupid laws, and it hurts only them...

Are you sure? I have an F350 DRW and im 20 going to be 21 in a few weeks and im only paying 1200 a year for it with full coverage. And it doesnt have to be commercial. If this is true i havent heard about it at all yet. And i just paid my insurance a few days ago. They didnt say a word nor have a got any letters or anything like that.

Oh wait i misread you ordered a new truck and all the new trucks are gonna have to be registerd commercial if they are a dually or over the 10,000 lb gvw. Whoops

10,000 GVWR Package

Maybe you should change your order to the 10k GVWR package

The insurance company goes by the VIN and apparently knows the "work around". It is either over 10K or more then 4 wheels.

what insurance company do you have i checked my gvwr is 11500, my zip code is 07735 nj im 28 years old and pay 1200 a year with gieco. id call around 2 other company if i were you
