FM Antenna height
Guys,
Do you know of any companies that make good aftermarket FM antennas for our new trucks? Every time I go into my garage, my FM antenna bends really far... unfortunately the top of my truck comes within two inches of the height opening on my garage, and that means the antenna hits several inches below the top. I just want to take it off and put a shorter one on, but I don't want to lose reception. Any ideas or thoughts? PS - I still need to get pictures up of my truck. Sorry about that... hopefully will have an opportunity before long. |

I put a Stubbie 21" antenna on my truck. It is made by AMI. (Do a google search) - I had the same issue. I was always taking off my stock antenna to get the nose in the garage.
I don't remember where I bought, but it works good. |

Will do - I'll check on that. Thanks for the input. Hopefully I can find something good.
No FM coverage issues after doing that eh? i was hoping that a shorter antenna wouldn't shorten reception. One of my favorite stations sometimes comes in a little weak where I live. Granted, I've got Sirius in there, but sometimes I like the local stuff too.

I had the same problem. Took mine off and cut it down by the base. I drilled the base with a masonry bit due to the hardness of the steel used, cut stem to desired length then welded it back up.

Alright. Good deal... wonder why they make those so tall? I suppose it's for better reception, just kind of frustrating when you pull in a 7' parking garage and clear everything else, only to have to listen to the 'tick tick tick' of your antenna slapping on the concrete ceiling dividers above you... not to mention every one of those exit signs and wire conduits...

I'm thinking I should just cut up my credit card. And then, again, I've used it so much lately, that I realized I now have the number memorized. Dang it!!
Can I call the bank and tell them that I've stolen my own credit card?? |

Well, I don't have a part number, but here's the information from my JC Whitney order confirmation. I think you should be able to at least find it on JC Whitney's site with that help. I just ordered the 21" black powder one. It apparently comes with several adapters to fit various antenna bolt sizes.
