Got my free DEF Fill 2.5 gallons,,,2176 miles

Yup was sitting in the service bay talking to the Service writer and he said look at your exahust fluid level.< We were talking about the inteli=life oil change >I did and it said "less than half full". I was shocked and so was he. With only 2176 miles. Only towed once for about 300 miles. Otherwise just driving. He said we will fill it up for free. He told me each dealership is allowed only 50 total free def fill ups <1per truck per dealership>.
I honestly believe the make ready department doesn't check the def level and thats why FORD has offered this incentive"correction".

Does that sound logical or do you think I will be putting in 2.5 gallons every 2000 miles? Thats a little more than 1 gallon per 1,000 miles. Thats insane.

My service writer then asked me if I got my FREE gallon of def when I bought the truck. I said no. So he gave me one and it's behind the seat.

Looks like I have some answers myself in 2,000 miles.

I've seen some other folks on here post that they thought it was only half filled from the factory... Mine hasn't been born yet, but I will check when she gets here!

Figured I'll wait another 2,000 miles to get my answer. Just wanted to see if you guys are consistant as mine or did the dealer not quite top her off.

Are you gonna need an epidural?

Mine showed "less than half" at about 2000 miles, and just now went to "800 miles to empty" this past weekend at about 4700 miles.

I got a coupon in the mail from Ford for a refill, but I too wonder if they're full when you pick it up.

My sales man tapped off DEF to the top when I picked up my truck... I saw him put almost full jug (2.5Gal) in.... That means my truck had just about half of tank from factory..... I have been told that full tank of DEF (5 Gallons) would last at least 6000 miles which is about 1200 miles per Gallon. DEF cost only $15 to $20 for 2.5Gallon jug so free fill up is not a big deal for FORD.

How do you check the level of DEF?

I am pretty sure mine was full when I picked it up and after my first oil change at about 4700 miles it was at about half. So empty you should get about 9000 miles from a tank of DEF.

Yeah, I don't know. I was at 5000 or so miles when I got the message that I was at 800 miles before DEF empty. Looking back, I'd bet that they gave me a half of a tank when I took delivery. Whatever.
