3.31 gear???
Anyone with the 3.31?
Im wondering what you think? How do they tow? I don't tow very often so Im thinking of going with the 3.31 gears over the 3.55 plus going with the 3.31 save me like $1300. I haven't looked it up so I will just ask but is there any tow weight difference from 3.31 to 3.55? Thanks SB. |

I ordered and have the 3.31 and LOVE it. The fuel mileage is awsome. Getting 22-24 on the highway. But about 16-18 in the city. Towing my Airstream with 900 miles on it was around 14. But I believe it will only get better. Sounds more quiet also. Shane |

I have the 3:31's, I don't tow often but when I do it's around 25K plus. It pulls better than my chipped 5.9 with 3:73's. I also put a 1 inch taller tire on.

I don't think you will have any issues towing with the 3.31 ! This truck have so much low-end tourque to accomidate the 3.31 with no problem.
The different at 70mph.....3.31> 1500 rpm 3.55> 1700 rpm As you can see the difference is very small ...so I wouldn't sweat it!! 3.31 or 3.55...you'll be happy with it. |

Not to be a smart*** but thats a pretty light trailer. What kind od terrain? Flat or mountains? I am basing it all off of the way I ordered a dodge in 09, went with 3.42's and it killed my MPG when towing 15K+

Well thats why I bought an Airstream, Thats why they call it a AIR-STREAM..Lightweight and cuts through the Air. Plus it will be around in 30 years unlike those fiberglass SOB 5th wheels.
It was a mixture of hills and and straight aways. In my 2007 6.0 diesel I was getting 11mpg, when I towed my Airstream 2 months ago Over 3,000 miles to the Florida Keys from Texas and back. So I'm already happy. Shane Last edited by srkr; 09-14-2010 at 03:21 PM. |
