New 6.7 as a daily driver?
Any thoughts on using the new ford 6.7 powerstroke as a daily driver, 80 mile round trip, mostly highway, during the week? The more I look, the more I like the new vehicles.

80 miles each trip -OR- the whole week?
I run my '01 as my DD - I'm running 18 miles or a day RT. I don't mind running the truck. With a 38 gallon fuel tank, I can run about two weeks before refueling. There have been times when my co-workers and I go out to lunch. I offer to take 5 others with me (See my sig). It's funny 'cause a guy at work asked me why I didn't buy an econo-box as my DD instead of driving my truck when diesel got up to $5/gal. I told him if I had to make payments, insurance on the car and buy gas for it, I could use that money to buy diesel. He acted as if I didn't understand correctly....but it's also interesting that when I do offer to carpool to a lunch or event, he's one of the first ones to sign up.

Hi Daryl ....
Sorry Darryl - I spelled your name wrong.
Thanks. That's 80 miles (minimum, sometimes a little more) round trip 5 days/week. I know what you mean about everyone jumping in on the carpool. Joe Last edited by tdinut; 08-28-2010 at 05:15 PM. Reason: edit name |

Not a problem - your spelling is a lot closer than many I've seen.
![]() I'm sure the newer trucks are more comfortable than ones like mine, but I enjoy driving it. I don't anything wrong with driving my truck. |

Maybe I wasn't clear ....

400 miles a week is nothing. I put that on in a day and a half.

That's kinda my question ...
I know for a diesel it really is nothing. Do you think the startup, drive 40mi, shutdown and repeat would be tough on the new egr/dpf system? I sold an '06 Ram 3500 with a Cummins 5.9. I guess I did not appreciate what I had. Not one lick of trouble. All the new emissions equipment makes me worried. I appreciate all the input.

Joe - I would think being on the road would be easier on the emission system than city stop-n-go traffic. You'll probably get better mileage too!

Love mine as the daily driver. My work trip is pretty similar to you with a lot more pleasure driving, too. I'm seeing 18MPG no matter how I drive on a still very new '11 250 CCSB with 3.31
