First service

The DEF warning light came on today around 6000 miles. Dad took it to the dealership and they filled it and serviced it. We were just going to fill the DEF but they said that we needed to go ahead and service it. I was wondering if next time we should just fill the DEF and wait for it to tell us to do an oil change?

I would have waited till the light came on is what Ford tells you,mine came on the other day @ 7400. Going to go in and get my oil changed in the morning.

I'm not sure where the offer is posted, the dealership just told dad about it when he took it in. And scotty im 150 miles away at school so I'm not there to jump on it when stuff needs to be done.
