Drivetrain Feature Review
Just spent a weekend up in the mountains in NY and wanted to provide my feedback on some of the Drivetrain features of the 2011. Nothing wild. Just some old logging roads in the mountains.
4x4 Display: Very cool feature. Was able to get the truck through +/- 13 degrees pitch and about +/- 5 degrees roll. Drivetrain display always clearly showed 4x4 mode and locked rear diff. Gonna have to get this truck more off axis in the future.
4x4 High: Travelled some washed out logging roads in 4x4 High. Never lost grip across dirt, loose gravel, mud or rocks. Just as firmly planted as my 2007.
Electronic Locking Diff: Locked up nearly instaneously. Tried to get the rear end biased across some rocks & mud, but the Locking diff did its thing and kept power going to both wheels. I like having this feature.
Hill Descent Control: Engaged past 8 degree and held truck at solid 5 mph while heading down hill through the bumps. Would come out of Hill Descent Control when slope was less than 6 degrees. Not sure I liked it disengaging everytime you hit a brief flat spot. Also, took a little time to get used to brake pedal buzzing beneath your foot when it engages. All in All, worked pretty good. Nice not having the ATV shift around in the bed and having to re-adjust rachet straps when I reached the bottom.
Liking everything so far. Anyone else get your 2011 off-road?
