1st fillup
Well did 375.5 miles mostly on highway doing 70-75 mph on & off cruise control. Filled up & put in 24.050 gallons. Calculated out at 15.61 mpg. Not to bad but hopefully will get better with time.

did you notice how easy they fill up? With my 6.0 it took another 2-3 mins to really top it off. This one is a breeze!
BTW thats the same mileage I'm getting |

When did ford put a 24 gal tank in their short beds? In my shortbed 6.0, it had a 29 gal tank and I could squeeze 31 gal in it

I have put 1200 miles on, not maintaining a constant speed per the break in instructions, (middle of MS-0 to 90 left 30 feet of rubber with traction off, rear end locked
)...cruised 70-75 on I-20 and got 16+ (with over the cab ladder catching the wind), cruised 65 and got 17+. My avg for everything on trip b, left untouched is 15 mpg. Not bad in comparison to the 6.4, on par with the 7.3 during break in. Its a beast...

Like everyone, I have watched the mileage numbers. I have 3:55 gears, carry a ladder that typically sucks 1.5 to 2 mpgs on a gas rig. I also have a hereditary disease which ( I am a victim) causes my right foot to be heavy. I am driving thru rolling hills, racing the guy in the right lane that wants to cut me off at the 'right lane ends NOW', and am happy with the mileage of a 4x4 F-350 that can MOVE stock! My 7.3 averaged less, my 6.0 was tuned and a little quicker, my 6.4... (never mind, trying to be gentle here
). All in all... I am okay with it, knowing that the block may take a little longer to break-in, and what I am starting with will only improve. Sometime soon, I will pull my ladder off and see what difference that will make. My 6.4 would be showing 8-9 mpg driving like this, and actually getting 7-8. On flat ground, at 70, 18-20+ mpg would be realistic in this "not the highest geared" truck.

spent half of tank of fuel already and filled up. I hand calculated it an got 13.8 mpg. The computer also has this feature and it read 13.5.. This driving was mostly around town and highway with speeds of 80 plus. Oh an dlots of idling.
my 6.0 got better fuel milelage so I hope it gets better. The positive thing i learned on fill up is that I no longer have to nurse this thing full like I did my 6.0, the pump stops pumping and its all the way to the top. Nice, this will save my 5 minutes in filling up alone. |

I have been reading these new trucks would get low to mid 20's so I ordered one. I'm not going to be happy going from 20 mpg in my 05 Dodge to this.
