Brand New Everything

Hi Folks,

I just bought a new 2011 F250 6.7 Powerstroke last night!! It is a Red Lariat with a black interior. It is also my first new Ford product ever. I had a couple of used Ford gas trucks waaay back in the 60s when I first started driving. I have owned one Duramax in the 2001 year so this is not my first diesel.

I manage the repair shop for a 54 hole golf resort so I am very familiar with diesel engines - mostly Kubota.

I bought my new Ford last night at 5:00pm but while preping the truck for delivery, it threw a code and the engine light came on. The dealer scanned it and said something wrong with EGR system and the techs that work those had gone home for the day - - - bummer!!

So, they will correct it today and I pick it up after work. I guess it's not so bad as I bought some chrome step bars and a bedliner with the truck. I would have had to return the truck to get these installed anyway so they will do all that today so when I get it, I won't have to go back again for the goodies (I hope).

I'm sure the wifey and I will drive a lot over the weekend so maybe I'll have some performance and fuel info to post next week. Stay Tuned!!

Sorry, no pics yet. I have only test drove it twice for a total of maybe 40 miles and spent very little time with the truck. I do know the finance lady pretty good in the office though!!!

OK, I picked up my new truck last night (Thursday).

Here's the story . . . . . .
I bought the truck on Tuesday evening around 5:00pm. As they were fueling and cleaning it up to deliver, it threw a code and the check engine came on. They scanned the code and it was an EGR problem. The techs had gone home so it was scheduled for first job Wednesday morning.

I called Wednesday around 2:00pm to check progress. The problem was not with the truck but with the transport company. When the truck was tied down for transport, the driver had hooked a steel tube that takes exhaust gas to the urea tank for heating. Since the tube was pinched shut it could not do it's job and triggered the light.

Now, the tube was very easy to replace once the bed was off the truck for access. They had gone to the GM of the dealership to get permission to take beds off two trucks for the repair. The new part was not in stock so one was "borrowed" from an unsold truck to fix my truck. It took the GM most of Wednesday to approve this work.

I was called yesterday (Thursday) around noon to say my new truck was ready to deliver. My wife and I took delivery at 5:30 Thursday night. We are very happy and proud of the truck so far.

I want to make it crystal clear - the truck did not have a problem from Ford. The problem was inflicted by the transport company onto a perfect truck.
