6,7 mileage solo / towing
Just finished reading a writeup in April's Trailer Life magazine where they tested a 2011 F-450 6.7. Interesting fact on actual mileage was 16.6 solo and 10.3 towing. Makes me wonder where all these "claims" of 26 - 28 mpg are coming from. Towing writeup and truck review was quite good. Caqn't see where this MPG is that much better than my '09 6.4 as I'm getting 16 mpg solo. Will have to see more data to form a real opinion.

I guess I cannot see the point of attempting to compare the mileage figures from a F-450 DRW 4X4 CC LB with 4.30's to your SRW truck...

April's Trailer Life magazine "Well, the F-450 had zero trouble hauling the relatively lightweight 12,900-pound Montana fiver around town, up a 7-percent grade and on moderate mountain passes. ....Lane changes, quick stops and even passing on the fly all went smoothly..."
Could not locate the mileage references, but thats better mileage than my 6.4 would get.... empty, doing the identical tasks. |

My point, jasonmt, was that all the hype of the 6.7 was this 26 - 28 mpg with all the increased power being obtained at significant MPG gain. Granted, the F-450 will have lower MPG due to gearing, but I am not convinced of the talked about MPG's on the F-250/350's. Just stating that my '09 gives me all I need and am happy with what I have.

they are claiming that millage with the f250s with the highest gears. 450s were not in the pic for mpgs |

My 2011 KR F-350 CC 4x4 3.55 w/dual alternators is getting 23-24mpg highway and 18-20 doing normal day to day stuff (traffic, stop lights, errands, lots of idling)

milage
My buddy had an 08 450 4.30 gear king ranch. empty milage 55mph feather footing the mess out of it was never above 14. Towing his Carriage 5th wheel GVW is 25,500. (truck with fuel tank, toolbox, chains, hitch GVW was 10,000) he never got above 8 mpg running 60-70 mph. If the same truck in a 2011 (he ordered it and its on its way.) gets 2 mpg better.....That is a massave jump. Over a years drive avg. 15,000 miles a year thats almost 800 bucks a year savings. Thats decembers payment. My point is you can't compare anything to a 450 milage except another 450. even a 350 with 4.30 gears will have a different weight than a 450. ( the old ones anyway. I dont know about the unloaded weight of a new 2011).
