Lariat vs King Ranch

In looking at the Ford configurator, I can't tell that there is much difference between a Lariat and the KR except the interior and some minor cosmetic touches and the price difference is $7k. Am I missing something? I currently have a Lariat and like the KR interior but don't see the $7k value. Thoughts?

The guage cluster is the same in the lariat and the K/R for 2011.

There is not a 7K difference between the lariat ultimate package and the k/r. This is a better comparision. The lariat ult. gives you the memory seats and mirrros, nav, auto start....etc.

Seat leather, center console arm rest leather, emblems, floor mats, color matched front grill surround and bumper, different wheels, running boards (if ordered) are most of the changes.

Thanks guys. I'll go back and reconfigure both models again. I must have missed something somewhere.

The seats alone are almost worth the 7k, they are a very expensive top grain leather. Atleast back in 2006, the seat covers were worth almost 2k per seat, very nice leather (nicer than the 2008+ leather). Thats why the 2007 and older leather seats scratch so easily, its a aniline leather. Have to condition the seats with a cream every couple months to keep them in top shape and from drying out (takes out the scratches as well). Also, the steering wheel is wrapped in this fine leather as well. These aren't your everyday leather peices, a couch that goes in your home with this type of leather goes for 5k plus. The lariat leather is pleather, fake leather.

I read somewhere that the leather for the King Ranch was lower quality for the 2011 trucks.

They will be less quality unfortunetly. The 2003-2007 trucks had the best leather. The 2008 and newer saw a small difference, but still very nice leather. The new 2011's have heated and cooled seats and so to take advantage of it the bottom seat and lower back portions are more like "pleather" I guess you could say with little holes in them to allow for the cooled seats to have more effect. The reason for the change in leather in the 2008 and newer is people were complaining about how easily the leather scratched and how they would start to look bad after a certain amount of time(not ever being conditioned). Most people who bought these trucks didn't know how good of a leather it had and didn't know how to care for it. When conditioned ever 3 months or so it brings it back to new. Hope this helps.
