Question about 6R140

Just read the 2 page diesel power article on the 6R140.

(quote) The Transmission is further strengthened by the utilization of a powder-metal carrier within the compound ravigneaux planetary gearset.( end quote)

Now i've worked with a lot of powdered metal products before. Powder-metal = S H I T. It shoudln't be in a tranny and they shouldn't be making rods out of it.

My 6 speed manual has no (PM) parts in it.

Why the hell do companies put this crap in our trucks? Do they want to keep their parts selling and their techs busy at the stealerships?

what gives?
