I'm currently looking for a new work truck. It's going to be a crew cab with 8 foot bed XL with the basics. I'm having a hard time deciding to spend the extra 200 a month in payments for the diesel. The truck will be used for landscaping pulling a 20 foot enclosed trailer 8 months out of the year. The rest plowing for the winter. Now the new gas engines are suppose to last 200K miles but my miles per gallon won't be as good and less power. Plus side cheaper out of the box, Cheaper per gallon fuel, Cheaper repairs.
Diesel engine should last longer and has more power. Better for towing and hauling. Can't find out what type of mileage they get? Now I've been hearing about a lot of issues with the diesel's but this has been coming from people who have older trucks when they talk about the new engine trucks. Even heard that some of the new engines have a separate tank for some type of additive? My google skills are lacking. If someone can list what the know issues are with the new engines or point me to where I can read up on them that would be great.
Thanks,
Chris
