Truck went into regen and was running fine. All of a sudden I felt the truck shake. It also started to miss around 1500 rpm. Everything else seems ok. Truck is stock with 33,000 miles. Just had the EGR cooler replaced last week. Made it home ,shut off the truck and pulled P0305 - Cyl #5 misfire and P0275 Cyl #5 contribution balance. Started up the truck and it seems ok. Is it ok to drive? Did something break? Dont want to clear the codes, still have warranty. Trying to get an appointment with the dealer now. Any help will be appreciated.
Make sure you don't clear the codes... could have an injector issue or could have an exhaust valve issue while in regen. Someone will correct me but I believe the regen happens on 1,3, 5 and 7.
Never had a problem with regen before. Once I restarted the truck, it was no longer in regen it ran better. Just afraid of dropping a valve or losing an injector.
The next time it happens, shift down one or two gears as higher rpm stops the shaking (and possible damage). As noted above, it is a known problem that Ford doesn't have a fix for, but they say April 2016, I think.
Sitting at the dealership now waiting for them to bring the truck in and start troubleshooting. Been here 45 min and the truth is still sitting I the parking lot. Not how I wanted to start my day
ok, so i get the truck back and the service advisor tells me that there is nothing wrong. There are no active codes and there are no stored codes. They said it passed all tests. They deny clearing the stored codes. I was able to pull codes with two different scanners as recently as this past sunday and they were stored, not active. Can stored codes just go away on their own? I think since it was not active they just cleared it. I argued that if there were no codes I would be home not wasting time at the dealership. What did I do? Randomly make up two codes?
There isn't anything they can do about it right now. Like said above, there is a fix coming, but you have to wait.
Lower a gear and drive. You can use tow/haul as well.
