EDIT: Reading the comments it looks like they put diesel in the DEF tank...cant believe it took this long for a video of that to come out. Not 100% on that yet as it hasn't been confirmed...
Crazy thing is they kept running it too. People out that are just retarded.
I've seen diesels shoot fire for 3 things. Gas in fuel tank, diesel/gas or other flammable substance in DEF tank. Seal failure causing a runaway dumping massive amounts of fuel into the exhaust system.
I would think for the newer trucks, only option 2 is likely because everything else shuts it down QUICK.
What crazy is that Ford said they would fix it under the terms of the warranty...that boggles my mind. The lady messed the truck up, not Ford.
Secondly, I bet ford puts something in place to prevent this (i.e. a shutdown to protect the truck if it sees temps in excess of whatever across all sensors, I mean to make the metal glow hot all the way down the pipe). I would if I was Ford....
I took that letter differently. How I perceived it was that they were advising her that Ford does not offer returns but there is a warranty they obide by.
That doesn't mean that this was a warranty repair just advising her of what Ford offers as a general informative statement. "We have a warranty with warranty guidelines and we follow those on applicable repairs"
Not sure which way that letter is supposed to mean.
I've heard of Chevy owners still putting DEF in the fuel tank and now also the oil fill, Brake fluid reservoir, windshield washer fluid area and power steering. I haven't heard of anyone putting it in the radiator reservoir yet.
the owner either put gasoline in his fuel tank or his DEF tank... Saw those videos the other day. There is not a catastrophic issue with these trucks yet. People are dumb..
Ford does shut down the truck if EGT sensor is over xxxx degrees....theres 4 of em in the exhaust tract...why it didn't shut down who knows maybe it wasnt that hot just shooting fireballs out no problem
This is either Darwin ism at work, or the r&d of the "flame thrower"/"Jewish lighting" mod.
Handy if the Zombie apocalypse come to life, or you can't afford the payment anymore.
Sounds like that letter is working perfectly then.
The internet detectives win again.
After the woman blast Ford of Canada all over social media for a few days she finally came clean and admitted to putting Diesel Fuel in her Def Tank and hasn't said a word since. Another case of having a bigger bank account than brain cells and then blaming everyone else for your own stupidity. I hope Ford doesn't fix anything for her after this stunt.

Its been proven the woman had put Diesel in her DEF tank causing the issue. Not good but it did go viral on all the pages and also the GM forums are going crazy bashing Ford. But they won't say that the 6.7 is hitting historical miles on engine life. A 6.7 PSD was traded last year with 806,000 miles, yes, 806k. Ford bought the truck back to tear it down and inspect the engine. That's Ford tough 💪

And people wonder why I don't bother with social media. Personally, I believe social media is doing more harm than good to society. It sure gives the stupid a place to gather, and as The Refreshments said best "Everybody knows the world is full of stupid people". Just look at how far Hillary has gotten!
Anyone ragging the 'woman' is completely in the wrong.
“We have completed our initial investigation into the Super Duty in Canada and have determined it was caused by an incorrect repair after the truck was produced. We are not aware of any other incidents, and we are taking action to prevent this from happening in the future. In this unique case, the customer returned the affected truck and received a refund.”
I love how there is one issue with a first year truck and everyone jumps on the whole ford sucks bandwagon. A buddy of mine is a ford diesel tech and he was telling me a week ago about this. Apparently what the explanation from Ford was improper removal of diesel contaminated DEF. He had a similar repair to preform a few years ago. It makes me laugh because she was stupid Ford bought the truck back to shut her up.
Typically, from what I've seen, whenever a petroleum product is introduced into the def system, it swells everything to the point that the system is inoperable. The seals, the draw tube, etc.. Not exactly sure how long that takes tho. Maybe not soon enough! Haha
Just boggles me that people could put diesel in the def, what with how big the fuel nozzle is and how small the def spout is.
Buddy was saying it unbelievable how many people don't understand the def still.
