Tailgate hard to open

Hello,

My tailgate is really hard to open, I have to pull way up on the lever to get it to release. If I open it up, what do I need to look for to adjust this?

There's little plastic clips that screw onto the levers, unclip them and tighten or loosen them for adjustment. That should do it.

Did you look in there yet? I removed the plastic liner on the inner side of the tailgate and I was able to see all them handle giblets. You can probably see what's causing it from there..

Sometimes the screws on the catch assembly work loose. Look at the edge of your gate where it engages the post from the bed. make sure those two screws are tight and the assembly the hold is tight. If they get loose and wiggle, then almost not amount of lifting on the handle will open the gate.
