2012 need anything for upgrades?

Good day all,

I am thinking about picking up a 12' f250 but I don't know the 6.7 very well and I am looking for some first hand experience before I spend 40k on a truck.

I would like something with some warranty on it but I can't justify the cost of a brand new truck.

I see the numbers and the specs for it and I like what I see I am just wondering if an intake and an exhaust are worth it or not or even required. I would like a tuner for it as well but I don't want to void any warranty that is left on it.

I will be putting tires on it for sure as the stock rubber just looks wrong and I am thinking about a 4 to 6" lift to go with it as well.

If anyone has any experience with the 12' please let me know.

Thanks

If you want to do an exhaust, or at least one worth doing, you need a tuner to delete the emissions non-sense. The DPF back exhausts don't really accomplish anything. The trucks are very capable in stock trim and a lot of people that delete them do it simply for better mpg. I saw about a 2mpg increase with a tuner/intake/exhaust. The best mpg is also on the highest hp setting, at least with the H&S tuner it is.

The 2012 trucks have a revised turbo that the 2011's didn't, so you should be good to go on that portion of it.

35x12.50's will fit without any lift on stock rims. If you're going to lift it a 4.5" clears 37's with a fairly conservative rim or with decent trimming of the lower valence and fender liners, otherwise 6"+ clears 37's just fine even on aggressive wheels in most cases. Also try to find one with the factory 3.55 gears if you're planning on going bigger tire wise to save yourself the money regearing. Most people don't regear for 37's; if you're running the 3.31 like me or on 3.55's it has more then enough power to move along still.

The only issue that I have with a tuner is that it may and more then likely will void my warranty. I don't want to run anything bigger then 35's I don't really have a need for anything larger.

for my exhaust intake and tuner I have been looking at the afe products. I know a few people that have them and they seem to like them for gas applications so I am hoping that they will be good for diesel as well.

For intake and exhaust the AFE will be fine, for tuner there is no better way to go then the H&S. Hands down the best unit.
