help me decide

Currently own a paid for 2010 5.4 ltr SC Lariat with 70K and my friendly and trusted local Ford dealer mentions they have a recently traded 2011 XLT F250 6.7 that just came in, and wonders if I might be interested in trading my truck for the diesel...

Then i start reading some of the nightmares some of the diesel owners have been dealing with on these 6.7 with water separators, and fuel issues to name a few, and I honestly feel like running the other way...supposedly this 11 has 160,000,Km on it, and James the head of service says the owner had zero issues with it, but I'm sure considering keeping what I have although mine has a had a few issues too...nothings perfect, but i do not want to open up a pail of worms I dont need by jumping into a diesel burner when i really dont haul that much especially when my 150 has worked fine up to this point and its paid mine in and go into another $10,000 worth of debt, but we havent talked numbers yet... I havent even seen the truck in person yet...

thought i'd request opinions before i made a move... Thank you in advance

Sounds like you talked yourself into not needing it and not going through with it.
If you WANT it, get it. If not, don't. I wouldn't be scared if I took care of it myself, but you always run a risk on used vehicles.

I do know the family that owns the large Ford authorized dealership are renowned for their quality diesel service, and I'm not much of an advocate of the problematic power robbing/restrictive emission systems on the newer diesels even though I realize it's needed for our suffering environment, but if I thought, i could get the truck tuned with the right programmer, plus straight through free flowing exhaust, plus the added benefit of something as trouble free as my ol 94' 2nd generation Cummins that i have for my work truck, i'd buy this 2011 without much of a 2nd thought...

Have an oasis report and car fax run on that F250. When I was buying my F350 used my dealership had that printed out without me evening having to request it.

Like they have said, make the dealer show you the warranty history. If Google serves me right I see that 160k km is almost 100k miles so that means the 5yr 100k mile warranty is about up. A clean history may help to keep me interested in it, but otherwise I think I'd look for something with less miles. It may be a perfectly solid truck but it still has 160k km of wear and tear on it.

agreed, clean history or not, it still has that 100,000 miles already under it, with the warranty about done, and that certainly doesnt leave this man feelin overly warm or fuzzy..

Being i know them well enough, he wouldn't put me in any vehicle if it has plagued them with troubles, and he mentioned he would need somewhere near $30 for it..and i'm thinking at this point 10 will likely be close to the difference..
