Motorcraft 15w-40

Anyone using this stuff in their 6.7? I used it all the time in my 6.4 with no issues. The dealer is telling me 10w-30 and the cap says 5w-40 for severe duty. I am middle of the road as far as duty is concerned, and I live in SC so the climate is warm. I get the best price on Motorcraft 15w-40 but want to know if there is an absolute reason not to use it in a 6.7.

First oil change on my 6.7 was performed by the dealer today and they used 15/40. Not sure why - there was an info note on the invoice indicating "Days / Hours". Guess maybe that caused it to slip into the severe usage category.

Had 5-40 full synthetic put in mine while living in Vegas. No issues

75000 miles very light knock. Stock everything deleted and tuner from day one.
Notice nothing went through these and only the top bearings are fatigued and worn. We clearanced the engine on a rebuild and found all oil clearances within spec on the very tight side. Spec is .001-.003 and they were right at .001. We polished the crank to a looser clearance and will be running 15-40 shell rotella.

What are everyone's thoughts on a .001-.0015 oil clearance in a diesel truck and is the 5w-40 oil going to have a thick enough film at higher torque levels?

note this is a fleet vehicle that is towed with on a hot tune day after day.
also note the bearings are black coated upper, and normal babbit lower.

Is the bearing still smooth?

Without touching or seeing the bearing first hand, it looks like an abused vehicle, cold starts straight to heavy work, and over extended oci's. Any info on the life of this engine? Oil analysis? Oci's? Fleet vehicle? weather of usage? Brand, type and weight of oil?

I am certain they are running a 15w40 rotella oil in it.
The main bearings were perfect as well as the crankshaft.
Cylinder alls still have a great crosshatch.
It is a fleet vehicle and is worked hard on a hot tune day after day by multiple drivers.
The bearings themselves are smooth.

I am kinda partial to #4 excessive crush at this point by the appearance.

note #16 wiped would be an earlier sign of oil starvation and I do not see any metal being wiped across the bearing

Really need an oil analysis to point a sure finger. Excessive idling (fleet truck) would prematurely break the oil down and render it useless when the truck got flogged to the next job.

We do not do the maintenance so I am unsure of the oil change interval.
