Replaced the power steering pump??

I replaced the power steering pump on a 12 F250. I never did it before but something is still not right and its making a strange noise. Like maybe there is air in the system? Was I supposed to make sure the air was out?? Kinda new to this. Could someone tell me step by step how its supposed to be done.

Oh and I used power steering fluid and was reading somewhere you are supposed to use tranny fluid?

Man not trying to sound like a smart ***, but should you have researched first how to do this? And yes you should have used tranny fluid not power steering fluid. These trucks have hydraulic assist steering that also works with the brakes...

Your owner's manual should call for Mercon V ATF for the power steering, Mercon LV ATF for your transmission.
