Still Amazed

Folks, I have owned my truck for one year and have 16,000 miles on it. I live 7 miles from work so most miles are short commutes.

CCLB Lariat w/20s.

This truck still amazes me. I come from 3 Tundras in a row and while I still have a lot of respect for the Tundra quality, this truck is just amazing. My lifetime hand calculated avg mpg is near 16 mpg. My Tundras weren't that good. Today, I took a 300 mile trip (90% highway at 72 mph) and the lie o meter was reading 21.3 and I'm way. Well, I stopped to fuel up and the meter read 21 and with 275 miles and squeezing a top off of 13.5 gallons I was at 20.4 mpg. Holy cow! My friend who is a die hard Tundra guy took a similar trip this week and managed 17 (crewmax w/5.7). I had to smile....I know I made the right decision. The 2 other gentlemen traveling with me remarked at how smooth and quiet it was. And, when I showed them she can boogie when passing or merging, they were pretty pumped.

This past week I've put the truck to work pulling a 14' dump trailer and my 10,000# tractor. No sweat! I mean, I can pull out onto my hill and I don't need to horse it to get up the hill, and I'm doing 55mph.

I think Ford got this one right, in a big way. I realize there are issues with some trucks. There are on EVERY forum (check out duramax, cummins, tundra, etc).

My seats look great, the interior is still tight, and I have ZERO rust underneath (probably aided by my Fluidfilm use).

I don't think I'll get 30,000 out of my tires, which are probably the weak point (which is odd for Michelin reputation). I get good grip in snow and otherwise, unless I'm giving it some large doses of go juice

To anyone looking at these trucks....take a test drive. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Very capable towing. Nice to travel in. Efficient. Thumbs up from me!

Good job Ford!

Great write up man! I have just made it 13 months and 13k miles, and I still look for a reason to take the long way home! I too am still impressed with how this truck drives with and with out something in tow and how much of a monster it is when you mash the long pedal! In the last 6 years I went through 3 vehicles trying to find that one that would fill the void of my old Mustang, I can certainly say I have found it!

I am glad you are still happy with your truck as I know I am and I'm sure most of the other 6.7 owners. Here's to many more miles!

Glad to see you're using your truck for what it was meant for and it's still holding up perfectly fine

Since you do a lot of short trips its good to get out there and pull trailers and take long trips as much as you can. It really is needed. Does a lot of good for the engine and cleaning out the exhaust filter
