F150s have bigger brakes than SuperDutys

More diameter, more actual surface area, AND thicker. Front and Rear. Why is this...

I'm pretty sure the brakes change for the diesel.

No, they don't. Checked the 6.7L and it's the same as the 6.2L. It doesn't change until you get to the F450.

I believe that Ford did upgrade Superduty brakes for 2013:

Improved brakes for 2013
F-Series Super Duty’s best-in-class payload numbers are supported by an improved brake system that delivers increased capability and usability.

Braking engineers increased brake rotor swept area by 16.4 percent in front and 14.5 percent in the rear for maximum braking to help dissipate heat, especially on long downhill grades.

These changes support a 700-pound increase in the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating to a best-in-class 14,000 pounds. Improved brake pads and a retuned booster enable enhanced pedal brake feel to increase driver confidence.

“We’ve really improved brake feel,” said Michael Watkins, brake system engineer. “There’s refined modulation in the pedal – you really feel the stopping power. With a full load of cargo, drivers will notice strong, confidence-inspiring brakes.”

A larger parking brake for F-250 and F-350 models also allowed an increase in maximum payload rating.

Available adjustable pedals also enhance customer comfort by personalizing the interface between driver and brake system.

So it still stands, 11-12 f150s have better braking than their superduty kin of the same year. yet, we can stop twice the weight, with less brakes... sounds fishy?

Yeah... makes you wonder just a little bit about what Ford was thinking.

I don't care, as long as my truck stops with a load.

Since the F150 were redesigned a couple of years ago and our SuperDuties brakes were redesigned in 2005. I suspect we are just catching up and we will see the changes as mentioned with the 13's.

The brakes on the 11-12s are much better than what I had on my 2000 and 2003 trucks, And they always seemed to get me stopped.
