I think hill decent is part of tow/haul. All you need to do is click it into tow haul mode and tap the brakes once. It'll downshift and the exhaust brake will activate.
tap brakes again, it'll downshift again and so on until a downshift causes the engine to redline.
May be wrong on this, but pretty sure that's how it works.
You also have 'lockout' mode in automatic (auto, not manual mode). By clicking the downshift you elimiate gears starting with 6th and going all the way down to 2nd.
You also have 'manual' mode. Here the truck acts just like it would with an stick tranny.
I think that with a little experimentation you'll find one or more modes that'll do what you want.
Only had my 2012 Lariat Ultimate a little over a week now.
You have the KR, which has all the options, so you ought to have everything.
